Transformational Office Design and Build Project in Notting Hill, London

Once we suggested covering a large wall in the breakout space with a huge magnetic map (from which to plot world domination, James Bond style, over a coffee) the mydestination founders sensed that we were the right people to work with on their new office design! They chose a cool mews house near our Notting Hill offices and we transformed the place to create a great workspace. Upstairs they have a meeting room with the latest video conferencing and tele-presence technology so that they can conference anywhere in the world from their London offices. This is especially useful given that this fast growing internet firm work 24/7 around the world.

We suggested making the wall of the ground floor entrance a massive map as accent art; we added the magnetic element so they can have meetings and discuss strategy, placing magnetic markers on the map as they expand across the world. The entire ground floor is given over to a cafe style, coffee culture setting allowing visitors and employees to use laptops and mobile work in different scenarios. The founders maximised floorspace by keeping desks to 120 wide, but supplying excellent chairs. This space is comfortable enough to work in isolation, and maximises efficiency and value for money.

The staff love their new space and we love it too – a great example of how a well designed office is a strategic asset to a company’s performance.
