Call centres can be some of the most challenging and stressful workplaces to work within. There was a desire by the client to provide their call centre employees with a high performing and comfortable workplace. Whilst it needed to be functional and ergonomically advanced, it also needed to reflect the Brittany Ferries brand and experience.
The colours are a daring combination of warm reds and yellows that echo the more colourful retail and leisure environments aboard a typical Brittany Ferry. Working within a tight budget, funds were allocated where they could be most effectively utilised. Nearly a quarter of the budget was allocated to a new M&E installation alone, providing the best levels of ventilation and air-conditioning. All chairs were replaced with high performance task chairs to give better levels of ergonomic support to users at their desks and the carpets were replaced throughout for maximum acoustic absorption and aesthetics. Desking was re-used as a budget compromise to be replaced at a later date.
New meeting rooms and breakout areas give formal and informal places for employees to re-energise and interact. Ship models, branded manifestation, local artwork and complimentary fabrics and finishes all come together to create a significantly enhanced "Brittany Ferries" branded experience.
The result has been very well received and has coincided with significantly higher levels of employee satisfaction, reduced levels of staff turnover and more satisfied customers. Brittany Ferries recently won “Best Ferry Company” at the telegraph travel awards, recognised as the most prestigious travel award scheme in the UK.
